Theme of the Year – Spacemen!

Posted: November 17, 2012 by suedemonkey in Art

Let’s see what you can do with Spacemen!

I know everyone’s a bit busy these days. But I really hate to see our little project wither and die, lost in the annals of the internet. So I’m introducing the theme for this week (extending to next week!)

Pick one character and draw them to your heart’s desire. Deadline is on July 9, 2010.

Late entry. As annoying as she was in the show, I always sort of had a thing for Judy Jetson. About 15 minutes of doodling on Paint Tool Sai.

I know everyone’s busy, and it’s a bit late for a submission, but here’s my sketch for the 2-week RETRO SCI-FI theme.

Used my trusty pencil and paper to get a sketchy look, then added some grays with ADOBE PHOTOSHOP OH WOW for some digital color sketch effect. Around 30 mins.

Lloyd Limbaga gets to choose this week’s theme, and it centers on RETRO SCI-FI.  Let’s see some rivets, people!  And in honor of the late Frank Frazetta, we’ve posted one of his paintings as inspiration! Frank, you’re still number 1!   Feel free to do your own research of other popular classic sci-fi illustrators including Wally Wood, Mark Schultz, Jack Kirby, and many others.
